New Brunswick-bred, Montreal-based indie rockers Ashleys have been quiet since the release of 2012’s Land of Fear and Shame, but they haven’t been resting on their laurels: new album Mulligan Months is out this summer on Moon Boy Records. The sophomore effort is more evidence of Ashleys’ fixation with summery upbeat pop sounds, cut with just the right amount of indie eccentricity. Think Arctic Monkeys, if they listened to a ton more Harry Nilsson and Death Cab for Cutie, and they spent a lot more time on the beach: Tropical Monkeys.
