As winter winds down and just about every summer festival across the Northern Hemisphere releases their lineups, there are always a few, alongside the juggernauts like Glastonbury and Coachella, that stand-out.
Festival d’été de Québec has been forcing itself into that elite group more and more in the last few years and, for 2018, they’ve programmed another pretty much undeniable week and a half in the picturesque, hilly Quebec capital.
Contemproray acts like BROCKHAMPTON, Shawn Mendes, Lorde, Tory Lanez, Milk & Bone, Future, Metz, and The War On Drugs are set alongside living legends like Beck, Foo Fighters, Neil Young, and CYNDI LAUPER! This lineup just runs past the concept of “something for everyone” and instead suggests “everyone needs all of this.”
Here’s the thing that takes the idea of going to Quebec City for this event over-the-top: you don’t have to break the bank to pull it off. There’s an 11-day pass for $100 (CANADIAN DOLLARS!), that gets you into everything, hotels, AirBnB, or your friend’s Aunt Madelaine are all accessible and affordable places to stay, and the food options are varied and reasonable as well (shout out to St-Hubert and Chez Ashton).
The bottom line is, Festival d’été is, at the very least, worth considering when you’re making your summer plans. Take a full look at the lineup and let us know if we’re wrong.
