Every musician worth their Dave Smith Prophet-6 would kill to work with an iconic and accomplished music star, and thanks to the magic of the internet, opportunities abound to reach out to your favourite musician on social media. If the stars are aligned just right, you might get some words of encouragement, some love advice, or, if you’re really lucky, a collaboration with T-Pain.
Portland resident synth and vocal wizard GLASYS shared a YouTube video of him playing his original song “We Can Change,” it attracted the notice of everyone’s favourite AutoTune prodigy:
“I’ve never seen anything like this in my life. PM me if you wanna work together bro. This is amazing!” T-Pain wrote to the Portland native after seeing the performance. As every creative type knows, though, these things have a way of falling through, and the promised collab opportunity seemed like it would never happen.
GLASYS was undeterred, though, and came up with a foolproof plan to regain his lane in T-Pain’s brain, so that Pain might deign to work with him again: he posted a new video of himself backing up T-Pain’s NPR Tiny Desk performance from 2014.
Evidently, the gambit worked, at least if T-Pain’s Twitter is anything to go by:
Looks like we don't have a choice but to make this happen for the world!

No word yet on what form the collaboration will take, but I wouldn’t bet against it having more vocal manipulation than average Max Headroom episode.
