A good lineup will always be the heart of a good festival. Little ol’ things like weather, food, friends, how well you strike the balance between tipsy and dysfunctional, and, probably most important, location have a huge impact on the overall experience of attendees, performers, and organizers.
Partnered with curator Royal Mountain Records (Toronto-based home of Mac DeMarco and Alvvays), live events company Lower Level have found an interesting, but completely practical, site to hold a festival: Hamilton’s Royal Botanical Gardens. This idea is so bless. It’s called Royal Mountain at Rasberry Farm, happening on Labour Day Sunday.
The all-ages event will be headlined by Mac DeMarco alongside U.S. Girls (whose new record goes very hard) and Calpurnia with an emphasis on simplicity; building a pure festival experience with the pillars of music and nature. There’ll be no VIP or hospitality areas, keeping tickets at a single (and reasonable) price-point.
Tickets go on sale on Friday, March 2 at 11am with a pre-sale running on Thursday, March 1 from 10am to 10pm here (use the password “goodvibes”).
