It’s been well established that HQ is on the verge of taking over. Not only has it skyrocketed in popularity, cracking a million participants only a few months after its launch in August 2017, but the developers keep upping the ante: a few weeks ago they gave away their highest amount ever at $50,000, and last week they kept the game going until only one player was left standing.
Dating app maker Zoosk wants their own piece of the pie and is taking away all the awkwardness of showing up at a bar for trivia, and hoping to leave with love. Relaunching and giving their previous dating app Lively a full makeover, according to TechCrunch, the newly reformatted Lively seeks to infuse a bit of romance into the phenomenon app-based trivia:
Lively aims to reproduce the feeling that comes with competing at a bar trivia night. When you join, you’re placed in a group video chat team of two to four people. Together, the team works to answer a series of 12 questions while discussing the answers over video in real-time. When they finish the questions, they’ll be able to see how their scores compared with other teams.
Sounds easy enough, right? After the game wraps, you have the option to continue chatting with other people and even add players as friends if you hit it off. The best part: if you strike out at 3PM, you can play again at 7PM.
