Is this photo, taken during the Toronto stop of U2’s Joshua Tree tour, the coolest concert crowd shot of all time? You be the judge:

“Set me alight — we’ll punch a hole right through the night!” Bono yelled during the performance of Joshua Tree standout “In God’s Country,” and the SkyDome, sorry, the Rogers Centre obliged: right on cue, the roof opened up over the assembled 52,000 fans. This was a golden opportunity to capture the above photo, taken from the vantage point of the always terrifying CN Tower EdgeWalk.
Bono and The Edge will be back in Canada on July 1st, as they’ve just been confirmed to be singing an early song during the official #Canada150 celebration on Parliament Hill… for some reason. No complaints here, though: hopefully we get an even more vertigo-inducing crowd photo from that performance. Too bad Parliament doesn’t have a retractable roof…at least, not yet.
