Every performer from the original Woodstock who could play Woodstock 50

This might be our only chance to see The Who join Janelle Monae onstage as her backing band. We can dream.

January 10, 2019

Festival culture seems to be going back to its roots in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the one that started it all, Woodstock. Organizers have announced a three-day celebration of the iconic event’s birthday to take place from August 16th to 18th of this year, in the town of Watkins Glen, NY. Though no official line-up drops until tickets go on sale next month, organizers promise a bill comprised of newer, more contemporary acts performing alongside original Woodstock alumni—so no need to worry about any Woodstock ’99 shenanigans.

When it comes to the original Woodstock Players, well, a lot has happened in the last 50 years, from musicians parting ways to passing away. We’ve combed through the original bill and come up with 13 artists that are still around, in some fashion or another, to help ring in the festival’s big 5-0.
