Canadian pop auteur Claire Boucher, better known as Grimes, counts a number of high-profile stars among her artistic admirers, including Lana Del Rey, Karl Lagerfeld, and Jay-Z. Now, she appears to have another name to add to that list, someone who neatly fits in with her brand of future-forward poptimism: Elon Musk.
The rumblings of their blossoming friendship first began a month ago, when someone on the r/Grimes subreddit noticed that Grimes was among one of the scant 48 accounts that Musk follows on Twitter (for context, Musk has a whopping 21.5 million followers on the site at the time of this writing).
Not at all the type to keep his interests in the dark, it was only a matter of time until Musk began to broadcast his admiration for Boucher to the world, beginning with Musk tweeting out the video for Grimes’ Janelle-Monae-assisted jam “Venus Fly”, gushing to his boatloads of followers that it was the “best music video art I’ve seen in awhile”:

Musk’s Grimes fandom doesn’t end there, as it appears he’s also been rocking out to the myriad of her esoteric, genre-bending Spotify playlists (seriously, they run the thematic gamut from “Musiq 4 Drawing” to “Playing Bloodborne”). The SpaceX/Tesla CEO’s listening habits emerged when Post Malone recently gave him a Twitter shout-out, only for Musk to respond with his love for Grimes’ “COUNTRy MUSIXK” playlist, which features everyone from Dolly Parton to Malone himself:
Likewise … was just listening to Go Flex & Psycho on @Grimezsz playlist

Grimes took note this time, only for Musk to further ingratiate himself as an absolute Grimes stan by calling her playlist the perfect soundtrack for riding his cyborg dragon:

And for those wondering, yes, Musk was serious about that cyborg dragon:
Oh btw I’m building a cyborg dragon
