Say what you will about Game of Thrones‘ great acting, Ramin Djawadi’s amazing score, or the CGI artists behind those wolves: the true MVPs of the show have always low-key been the location scouts. These unsung heroes have always managed to find the perfect castles, cliffs, and caves to bring HBO’s high-budget dragon drama to life, and now we have photographic evidence of their hard work.
For German film site Filmtourismus, Andrea David traveled around the world to check out all kinds of shooting locations from the show, from Dubrovnik, Croatia, to Northern Iceland, Ireland, and everywhere in between. Check out the images below, complete with set photos from the show, and if you like what you see, absolutely go to the Filmtourismus site. It’s in German, but they do incredible work, and shoot location shots from all over the world.
