This DJ’s obsession with mashing up “Smooth” is a thing of beauty

Aug 02, 2016

Man, it's a hot one.

Sounding eerily like an Alice in Chains song, Santanescence’s “Smooth Me to Life” is peak internet: A mashup of the Evanescence and Santana feat. Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20 songs, this track is perhaps best described on its Soundcloud page:

It is, and we can’t either. It’s the perfect pastiche in an online world where S I M P S O N W A V E can pick up traction among tastemakers. It’s ironic, but at this point, we’re not even sure if we’re joking anymore. I’m not, anyways — then again, I once saw Scott Stapp, on purpose, ten years too late. Does this beat the Onion’s reporting that the song had swept the Grammy’s 13 years in a row? No. But it comes startlingly close.

Inspired the always incredible Facebook group dedicated to the Santana feat. Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20, this mix is the work of DJ Grafyto, who has also blended the Santana feat. Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20 classic with Tupac:
