Invocation Vol. 1 is the first release from Invocation TO, the experimental music collective helmed by Jay Pollard and based out of upstart venue Geary Lane.
From June 12-14th, Geary’s echoing expanses and rooftop patio will play host to the inaugural Sound Séance festival, a three-day overload in collaboration with Montreal’s Suoni per il Popolo. It features acts such as Suuns + Jerusalem In My Heart, Expo 70, Wrekmeister Harmonies, Olivia Neutron-John, a five-hour drone set, and way, way more.
Saturday, June 13 will serve as the release party for Invocation Vol. 1, with 100 C65 cassette copies hitting the merch table. The comp includes exclusive and unreleased tracks by a group of artists who performed at Geary Lane in its first year. Highlights include the hovering vocal pop of Blunt Chunks, the recorded debut of bizarre-o rap duo No Sweat (Bile Sister and Fresh Flesh), and a mournful meditation on addiction from Black Walls.
