Summer can start now: Alvvays share new song

Jun 06, 2017

Could this be our song of the summer?

Alvvays came out hot in 2014, and “Archie, Marry Me” was our indisputable song of the summer. But the band has seemingly been quiet ever since. Seemingly, we say, because obviously they’ve been toiling on a follow up to their self-titled debut. And now, rain be damned, it’s here, and with it, for us, the official start of summer.

“In Undertow” is immediately familiar but still fresh, pairing singer Molly Rankin’s trademark drawl with sun-drenched riffs and an almost eerie, shoegaze-y unease. It is, in less complicated terms, really good. It’s the first single off the band’s new album, Antisocialites, which is out on September 8th.

Antisocialites:

01. In Undertow
02. Dreams Tonite
03. Plimsoll Punks
04. Your Type
05. Not My Baby
06. Hey
07. Lollipop (Ode to Jim)
08. Already Gone
09. Saved by a Waif
10. Forget About Life

Alvvays on tour:

They’ll be touring August through December, with four Canadian dates, all in the band’s adopted hometown of Toronto, at the very end.
