PHOTOS: Field Trip kicks off summer in Toronto

June 6, 2017

Familiar faces and band favourites were everywhere we looked at Field Trip this year.

This past weekend Toronto’s historic Fort York played home once again to the fifth annual Field Trip festival. Put on by indie behemoths Arts & Crafts, Field Trip for many marks the start of Toronto’s summer season, and we’re right there with them.

This year saw the return of festival faves Broken Social Scene (returning to the stage with the whole BSS family, Metric’s Emily Haines included) and Feist (who played some new hits off her amazing new record Pleasure & was joined onstage by Stars member Torquil Campbell, who filled in for Jarvis Cocker on “Century”), as well as newcomers like Tei Shi & jazz bros BADBADNOTGOOD.

Recent Juno winners A Tribe Called Red brought the party Saturday while France’s indie rock greats Phoenix closed up the weekend with an electrifying set. Throughout the weekend we ran into lots of familiar faces and made new friends. We were there with camera in hand, so check out our toddle through the festival grounds up top.
