Much like naps, pizzas, and all other great things, Drake romances never last long enough. Just look at his vague fling with JLo, which garnered buzz in late 2016/early 2017 before seemingly disappearing into the ether. The two may no longer be an item, with Lopez currently boo’d up with A-Rod, but both Drake and Jennifer seem to be very publicly reminiscing on whatever it was that they had together. It seems the only guarantee with Drake romances—aside from the fact they’ll be short lived—is that we’ll get a song about them (otherwise know as “the Taylor Swift Principle”). For J-Lo, that song was “Teenage Fever”, one of the highlights from the Toronto rapper’s 2017 More Life mixtape, a brooding bop about their then-budding romance that even flipped a sample of Lopez’ single “If You Had My Love.” Drake and Lopez’ public mourning for whatever they had together started earlier this year with a throwaway line in Drake single ‘Diplomatic Immunity’ (“2010 was when I lost my halo/2017 was when I lost a J.Lo”), but Lopez took things to another level last night during her performance at the Time 100 Gala, where she straight-up covered “Teenage Fever” for the audience:
As for whether or not this is hinting toward a rekindling of their relationship, don’t hold your breath, with Drake currently running around London with his newest flame, British singer-songwriter Raye, and Lopez and A-Rod currently swatting away engagement rumors.
