It’s festival season, which means the sun is shining, the drinks are flowing, and you’re losing your mind watching your favourite bands. It’s easy to get caught up in the moment; maybe you forgot to drink water or put on sunscreen for a full 72 hours, or maybe you’re a little sore from busting a move on the field. If you’re feeling the pain, here are eight ways to detox your body and help you make it through the work week.
You’ve battled heat stroke all weekend and its finally time to cool down. Turn the temperature down in your shower and let the soothing water wipe away the layers of sweat built up from those rockin’ dancing. Wash out that excessive amount of dry shampoo and treat yourself to a hair mask. If your hair is feeling extra dry, try the Triple Nutrition Butter Rich Mask. Your hair will thank you.
Lots of water
Hydration is the key to survival at this crucial time, so put this step as priority number one. Fill up as often as you can and may the water cleanse away your sins.
A healthy breakfast
With delicious food trucks surrounding the venue, you’ve probably been eating like junk all weekend. Opt for a smoothie or some fruit, and even if it’s on the side of a massive stack of pancakes, I bet you can trick yourself into feeling better.
Apply a face mask
With prolonged exposure to the sun, manifesting in either a tan or sunburn, your skin begins to lose moisture and hydration. Apply a Moisture Bomb Face Mask to provide your skin with some much needed care, and start the healing process.
Generous amounts of aloe
Hopefully you did well with the constant reapplication of sunscreen (we warned you!), but no one’s perfect. If you’re quite literally feeling the burn, slather on the aloe, sit back, and relax. Just avoid any sudden movements.
Sweat it out
I know I know, this sounds like torture. But trust me, you’ll feel a million times better once all that booze is out of your system. Take a fun aerobics class or go for a run on the treadmill, but pick a spot next to the trashcan (and maybe bring a pack of SkinActive Fresh Vitamin-Enriched Cleansing Cloths), you know… just in case.
Read a book
Your senses have been bombarded with the sights, smells, and sounds of the highest energy party of the summer. If you’re at all like me, you’ll need a little break from it all the hustle and bustle. Curl up with a good book and escape into a different world for a while. It really is the best way to get back to normal.
You’ve pushed your body to the limit this weekend; crowd surfing, boozing day and night, and generally having a good time. You require some much needed z’s to recharge your batteries. Even though you missed Sunday’s episode of Game of Thrones, take a pass and get plenty of sleep (just beware of spoilers on Monday).
