Electric Island pivots to the Port Lands

June 29, 2017

Electric Island is hitting the mainland this year, but the party is poised to be their biggest yet.

Now in its fifth year, Toronto’s annual Electric Island festival has had some bad luck with their go-to venue—flooding on the Toronto Islands means that they’ve had to drop the “island” part of their name and change locations. But the spirit lives on, and a little rain hasn’t stopped one of the city’s most exciting festivals.

Taking over a new space at the Port Lands (51 Commissioners St), this year’s Electric Island brings in legendary Canadian DJ Richie Hawtin for its Canada 150 celebrations. Hailing from Windsor, Ontario, Hawtin is a three-time DJ Awards winner and leader of minimal techno since the mid-1990s. The lineup also features some great talent from across the world including Maceo Plex, Recondite, Roman Fluegel, Chaim, and Atish.

The team behind EI – CODA and the Footwork Family, Embrace, and Platform have created an incredible event for techno enthusiasts and dance music lovers alike. This is one not to be missed!
