2017 has been CRJ’s year. After joining the Toronto Symphony Orchestra to perform her chart-topping 2015 album, E.MO.TION and co-starring in perhaps most adorable video collab of the year with Lil Yachty for Target (with a beat produced by Metro Boomin, of course), it seems like her march towards total domination hasn’t let up.
At the 2017 New Yorker Festival, Jepsen told the crowd that not only will her new album have a strong disco sensibility, but that she’s already knee-deep into the writing and recording process.
Being 80 songs, it could be a lot of things. At this point, it’s about kind of choosing them and polishing it and getting it to a place where I can feel the order makes sense.
I was really highly attracted to this understated disco. Going into the studio sometimes I would realize that, ‘Oh, I wanted disco, but I’ve made a mambo. So, I’m not really doing any disclaimers about what this is going to be, because I think it’s got different flavors in there.
Watch out. It seems like we’re about to get handled by Carly again — and we’re not complaining. [h/t ThisIsinsider]
