Cartoon fans who grew up in the Nickelodeon Era (similar to the WWE’s Attitude Era, but with a lot more falling anvils) often debate which cartoon was the best show of the 90s, and one show always makes the top of the list: Rocko’s Modern Life.
Premiering in 1993, the adventures of a mild-mannered wallaby and his best friends struck a chord with viewers, and not least because of the constant adult humour and innuendo, the bulk of which flew far over the heads of children everywhere. The show eventually ended in 1996, surprisingly NOT to due to parental complaints, and a wallaby-shaped hole in our hearts has remained ever since…
…Until now, that is.
Rocko’s Modern Life is getting a new hour-long TV movie next year, on Nickelodeon, and it looks amazing.
It’s called Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling, and the trailer above shows just how much as changed for the residents of O-Town in the last 21 years (yes, 21 YEARS):
O-Town has CHANGED!
Adrenaline filled energy drink promos!
Gluttonous food trucks!
Iterative smartphone updates with NO BUTTONS!
Immersive 3D Movies! Like, really immersive movies.
How excited are we for the reboot? This excited:
And yes, the show’s trademark humour, and awesome B-52s theme song, appear to be intact.
Let’s take a look back at some of the most risqué moments from the show’s original run, and hope Chokey Chicken is still going strong after all these years.
Time to binge watch in celebration.
