Lindsay Lohan defends Harvey Weinstein on Instagram

October 10, 2017

We wish we were joking.

Allegations of sexual misconduct, abuse and assault against Harvey Weinstein are coming almost faster than we can keep track, and as the disgraced producer — recently fired from his own company and set to be served divorce papers from his wife — flees to Europe to treat his “sex addiction,” a healthy dialogue on the deeper issues around rape culture, consent, and the Hollywood power structure is forming online and around the world. Celebrities are banding together; victims of Weinstein’s alleged abuse are sharing their stories, allies like Terry Crews and Anthony Bourdain are sharing theirs, and after decades of allegations, Weinstein has finally been exposed for what he really is.

Enter: Lindsay Lohan.

The starlet turned tabloid favourite turned, uh…  decided there was no time like the present to make her stand and, ridiculous fake accent in check, posted a few videos on her Instagram stories defending Weinstein. Honestly, we wish we were making this up.

On Instagram, Lohan’s Stories urge everyone to “stand up,” because she thinks “its wrong.” The catch is that she thinks it’s wrong that people are standing up… against Weinstein.

“He’s never harmed me, or did anything wrong to me. We’ve done several movies together,” she said, her infamously hoarse voice muddied by the bizarre accent she’s adopted in recent years.

Filmed at her home in Dubai, Lohan also says that Weinstein’s soon-to-be ex, Georgina Chapman, needs to “take a stand and be there for her husband.”

Hm.

How about… no?
