Here are the perfect pop stars to cast in Disney remakes

November 7, 2017

With Beyoncé on board the Lion King remake, we hash out a few more best case Disney scenarios.

Since the news broke that Beyoncé would be joining the voice cast of the live-action Lion King remake as Simba’s friend/love interest Nala, both the Beyhive and the internet’s dedicated Disney fandoms have been buzzing with anticipation. Due for release in July 2019, the upcoming release will also feature the voice acting talents of Donald Glover, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Seth Rogen, and James Earl Jones. Hopefully we get a Childish Gambino remake of “Just Can’t Wait To Be King” in the mix.

Disney’s been putting out live-action remakes of its beloved properties for awhile now, with Beauty and the Beast,  Alice in Wonderland, and The Jungle Book getting the treatment so far. Besides Beyoncé and Glover in the upcoming movie though, there’s been a marked shortage of pop stars in starring roles, and we feel Disney could be making a mistake: after all, they’re already missing out on what could’ve been the greatest stunt hyena casting ever. Just in case Robert Iger and company need some ideas, we’ve put together some surefire casting ideas for future remakes.
